Thursday, March 5th: The Gypsy Princess x Beverly Thursday, March 5th: The Gypsy Princess x Beverly Goldin

‘UNA-USA Pasadena hosted its third Coffee Talk of the year on March 5th at the Western Justice Center, welcoming guests for an evening of storytelling with the chapter Board Secretary Beverly Goldin. Goldin, an educator, artist, and media arts teacher, shared her short documentary The Gypsy Princess. The Gypsy Princess is a modern fairy tale that traces the life of a woman raised in the Bronx and her daughter who gradually uncovers long-hidden family stories. Through a blend of home movies, archival footage, and personal narration, Goldin explores themes of heritage and belonging. The documentary invites viewers to explore how spoken and unspoken family narratives shape our sense of identity. The film sparked a meaningful conversation about the role of storytelling in understanding family history. Younger members of the UNA-Pasadena chapter were introduced to the use of home videos and personal archives as storytelling tools, demonstrating how art preserves heritage. For all members, the presentation highlighted the power of personal storytelling to connect with individuals across cultures and experiences, values that align closely with the mission of the United Nations Association to foster understanding and global citizenship. By sharing her family’s story, Goldin demonstrated how deeply personal narratives can spark broader reflection about identity and belonging’ - Lauren Poplock, UNA-USA Pasadena Intern

‘As we move forward from Earth Day, we want to encourage action to make a difference for our local community here in Altadena and the global environment for all people. We affirm that change must come from a commitment to creative nonviolence, justice, and truth telling that upholds the dignity and worth of all living beings and the interconnections of all life’

“Forest Bathing”: 🌲✨
‘The captivating voice of Dwight Trible, in union with our sacred Mother Earth, is immersed in a deep forest meeting of sitar, fretless guitar, upright bass, horn, and keys, along with jungle birds and insects recorded in India. Each element represents animals, communes in the rich life of the forest, and gently supports a human sojourner traversing the scene in a walking meditation’

Dwight Trible: vocals
Paul Livingstone: sitar, fretless guitar, upright bass
Randal Fisher: saxophone
Evan Hatfield: rhodes & moog

UNA-USA Pasadena Chapter is thrilled to announce o UNA-USA Pasadena Chapter is thrilled to announce our NEW incoming board President, Daniel (Danny) Petersen (Dr. Daniel - Danny Petersen).
We invite you now to hear a bit from Danny on his new role as President:

‘I am deeply honored and humbled to serve as the newly elected President of United Nations Association USA (UNA-USA) Pasadena.

Just like rhythm brings people together in harmony, true leadership is about listening, aligning, and moving forward as one.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Mrs. Ann Deiderich, our outgoing President, for her outstanding leadership, dedication, and strong foundation she has built. I’m grateful that she will continue to serve our chapter as Treasurer—her ongoing leadership and wisdom will remain invaluable as we move forward.

I’m committed to building a community where every voice matters and where, together, we create impact that reaches far beyond our city.

Let’s move in unity—and shape the future’

Please join us in giving Danny a warm welcome as President! 🫶👏💙🤍

UNA-USA Pasadena Chapter board President Daniel (Danny) Petersen and board member Char Bland attended the United Nations Global Engagement Summit on April 10th. Hear more about the event below from Danny:

‘Representing UNA-USA Pasadena at the United Nations was a profound honor—an experience that reinforced my belief that leadership is not confined to those in power, but lives in every individual committed to unity, peace, and global impact. Sitting in a place where the world’s decisions are made, I was reminded that, like rhythm, true leadership requires listening, alignment, and unity—because when we move together, we shape the future together’
